We've been exploring a very interesting avenue in respect of bass-playing duties in JUMP.Whilst we have a temporary solution for our appearance at The Aylesbury Music Festival on July 13th,we believe that we have taken a large step in the direction of recruiting a quite exceptional talent...we hope to make a definite announcement within a couple of weeks. The musician in question is simply of the highest calibre imaginable.Oh yes! | Well it's been a while but we must report that the gigs have been fab and we've also completed some studio sessions that have yielded some great results...the road to downloads is a slow one...but we're getting there.Responses at Southend with the excellent Tinyfish and then a straight 2 and a half hours for the CRS were universally positive and we look forward to the next campaign. The space needs to be watched...so watch it...! |
ACOUSTIC SHOWS! |
| 2008-05-11 10:39:21 |
Jonesy and the Twins have a number of acoustic shows coming up( see gig guide ). Of particular note is the 'Music in the Garden' event at the Black Horse in Lacey green. It's a sort of half-Horses Head evnt if you will, featuring the artists who have played the Black Horse Sunday night acoustic sessions...namely JDJ and the Twins, Dave and Sarah from ALONEME and Holly Petrie. The event takes place in the garden of the Black Horse from 2.30pm (music from 3ish) and wraps up around 7.30pm so there's no late nights! Of course the sun will shine and punters will be able to enjoy fine ales and one of the chef's quite amazing steak barbecues! Put it in your diary now!! |
RECENT EVENTS! |
| 2008-05-11 10:27:59 |
Well it's been quite a month.First there was the four song House of Progression gig at The Peel where the local power-outage literally cut our set off twenty minutes in.In spite of some acapella classic rock covers(with audience participation) and then half an hour of brutally honest storytelling by Mr Jones (in the dark) it was not possible to salvage the gig for Panic Room, who had to drive back to Wales with just a soundcheck to keep them warm.Predictably the power came back on as Jonathan closed the door of the van.The gig is being rearranged fo early next year with the audience members who left email addresses with the promoter.Amazingly after Jonesy's er...heroic? efforts only two attendees asked for a refund! The gig at the Riga in Southend was relatively sparsely attended, although the crowd made their presence felt.We hooked up with the most excellent Tinyfish and both bands delivered in an excellent venue to which we would most definitely love to return...perhaps not when Southend are playing in the play-offs... Our last gig at the HLC in Rotherham for the Classic Rock Society( the centre is being flattened) was as usual,an absolute blast. Two and half hours of vintage JUMP,lots of smiling faces and re-acquainting ourselves with old friends.Of course it was Andy Faulkner's last gig with us so that added a 'milestone' dimension to proceedings. The merchandise box was summarily looted, once again proving that the CRS membership had great taste! This week we five reconvene at HQ to decide on the mixes for the forthcoming downloads.Watch this space and the myspace. |
BASS PLAYER ANDY SAYS GOODBYE! |
| 2008-03-21 09:26:49 |
Saturday May 10th will see our bass player Andy Faulkner play his last engagement with JUMP.Andy replaced the huge musical shoes of original bass player Hugh Gascoyne ten years ago (is it that long?!) and has been a lynchpin of the band since then.He wishes to pursue new challenges and explore different directions both in and outside of music and we wholeheartedly wish him great success in whatever ventures he pursues.A measure of Andy's committment to JUMP is that althought his decision was arrived at some time ago we were able to work out a mutually amenable schedule which will see a fitting departure at The HLC - the home of The Classic Rock Society.Of course prior to that you can catch him at the double-header with Panic Room at The Peel(April 19) and at the other CRS run gig at The Riga(with Tinyfish) in Southend on May 9th. It goes without saying that we'll miss Andy's contribution to JUMP but, like him,we have to look ahead at the challenges that lie in wait for us. We are currently recording material for a new album and this continues apace. So another chapter will begin on Sunday May 11th...the train stops and one man gets off...then the train carries on.Cheers Andy-good health and good luck. |
